UDC ©  E-mail:  The article discusses the method for obtaining thin section microphotographs using an Android smartphone, with further processing of them in the PETRO program. The paper outlines the principle of working with the software written in the Python programming language. When conducting petrographic studies with the use of a microscope, the PETRO program permits to properly catalog the resulting photographs and to save time on additional processing (setting the scale, applying masks, etc.). In addition to taking photos of thin sections with a smartphone, it is possible to upload photos directly from a computer disk. Keywords: [In Russian]
