E-mail:
The forest fire impacts for forest-and-bog ecosystems of Sakhalin Island were studied. The burnt biomass versus dead wood ratios were reported for different forest-and-bog ecosystems suffered from forest fires. Forested swamps and treeless peat swamps have the greatest losses of burnt organic matter and, correspondingly, of carbon (about 90–95% of the surface phytomass). Swampy forests have not more than 30–40% of burnt organic matter.
Keywords:  forest fire, fire scar, forest-and-bog ecosystem, swampy forest, swamp open woodland, marsh, peat moss bog, phytomass, carbon budget.
